Oomomo Manitoba celebrates 4th Anniversary

At both its St. James and St. Vital stores you will discover an array of tantalizing promotions from “Spend more, Save more”, complimentary tote bag for purchases over $25, to half price ice fruit teas and sparklers and limited time Japanese delicacy katsudon.

Since its launch in Manitoba 4 years ago, Oomomo has transformed the local shopping experience with its authentic Japanese merchandise and unique store design. Its 20,000 sq. ft. St. James flagship store features an Oomomo Café where refreshing beverages and mouthwatering desserts such as crepes and parfait are served along with a variety of Japanese dishes such as the popular katsudon pork cutlet rice bowl and curry dishes.

There is also a life-sized artificial cherry blossom tree together with Oomomo’s maneki-neko lucky cat mascot at the center of the store where guests can take a photo with, taking them on an imaginary tour to Japan in a heartbeat.

Since the stores’ opening, they have gained considerable popularity and attention in the city from the media as such as CBC News, Travel Manitoba, and Winnipeg Free Press for contributing to cultural diversity as well as providing an alternative for quality, cost-effective Japanese products.

Oomomo have continuously taken part in several local events in the city to contribute to the community, such as donating food and hygiene products to organizations that combat homelessness in the city, and donating coffee to schools, hospitals, and healthcare workers during the pandemic.

As such, the brand has won several awards from local organizations through its dedication and involvement in the community such as the ACCE Manitoba Gala Award in 2019, and more recently the Chinese Consumer Choice in 2023!
